Online-only checks are a poor fit when your software runs somewhere the connection cannot be trusted. Nightflyer authorizes the installation while it is online, then gives your application a signed lease it can verify locally until that lease expires. This makes Nightflyer perfect for single-player games that do not require an always-online connection, as well as other desktop software that cannot rely on continuous connectivity.

Choose the offline window that fits
Set the maximum offline time for each system from 20 minutes to 90 days. Nightflyer also respects the duration requested by your application and the license's own expiry, then uses whichever deadline comes first. Customer license expiration is always respected.
Each lease includes a renewal time, so your application knows when to reconnect without checking continuously. A successful renewal rotates the lease and starts a new window. If the network is unavailable, the current lease remains usable until its signed expiry.
Keep a copied lease from becoming a second license
Every installation creates its own signing key and proves that it still holds the matching private key. Nightflyer also binds the lease to your app's SL-HWID value. Copying the lease file to another machine does not copy the authority needed to use it.
The lease itself is signed by System Locker. Your application verifies that signature and the installation details before granting access, so editing a date or identifier invalidates it instead of creating a longer session.
Stay in control when a device reconnects
Renewal checks the license policy again. An expired or frozen key, changed application requirement, hardware ban, or revoked installation can stop receiving new leases. You can inspect current leases in System Management, unbind one installation, or end a lease deliberately when a customer signs out or switches licenses.
For paid licenses, Nightflyer and the online authentication APIs are deliberately separate modes. Ending or unbinding the last offline lease releases that reservation so the customer can switch back to an online session.
Configure the offline policy
A disconnected device cannot receive a new revocation, nor can it receive a new lease. If you allow 30 days offline, an already authorized installation may remain usable for that period even after you act on the server. Balance the need for offline access with the risk of unauthorized use.
